Brilliant website finds your stolen camera while you sit back and relax
Losing your gear or having it stolen is always a horrible experience, but one website is looking to take some of the sting out of the ordeal for people with missing cameras. In an age where sharing photos is just as important as capturing them in the first place, camera thieves are increasingly likely to let their guard down and post images they snap with stolen goods on Facebook, Flickr or elsewhere on the Web.

Experimental 3D scanner creates clear images with almost no light
We've seen single-pixel cameras, and now MIT researchers have figured out how to create clear images of dimly-lit objects using single photons -- in 3D, no less. The technique doesn't involve any fancy new hardware, either, as the team worked with a standard photon detector that fired low-intensity visible laser light pulses. The magic happens from the algorithms they developed instead, which can pick out variations in the time it takes for individual photons to bounce off of subjects.

Sony adding proper 1080p video recording, other improvements to QX lens cameras
In January, Sony plans to roll out new firmware and software updates for its pair of QX "lens cameras" that address several of their early shortcomings. First, both the QX100 and QX10 will be able to shoot proper Full HD video at 1080p (previously they'd been limited to an odd 1440 x 1080 resolution). Sony is also kicking up the max ISO settings on both models. The QX10 will now shoot up to ISO 3200, with the QX100 getting you all the way up to ISO 12800 -- though we can't imagine you'll see great results when venturing into that territory.

Ricoh's new action cam isn't a toy, even if it looks like one
When you're in the market for an action camera, we'd imagine GoPro or Contour would be the first names that sprang to mind. Ricoh is hoping to crowbar itself onto your psychological roster, however, with the WG-M1, its latest ruggedized action camera.

Samsung NX mini review: a $450 mirrorless cam that fits in your pocket
It's been a long journey, but Samsung's managed to build out a compelling camera lineup that has something for everyone. Pros can get the high-end NX30; cameraphone addicts can pick up the Galaxy K Zoom; and selfie fanatics will probably go for the $450 NX mini, a tiny interchangeable-lens camera with a flip-up LCD that fits in your pocket.

Samsung NX Rover is an exploration rover. This is what it did
If you reside in Europe, the story you are about hear might sound or look familiar. If you reside in any other continent in the world, you might not have heard of this. Either way, it's a great, and great-looking, story.

Samsung NX1 offers enthusiasts 4K video, 15fps and advanced autofocus for $1,500
There's a lot of activity in the higher end of the enthusiast interchangeable-lens market, for both mirrorless and dSLR (price range $1,200 - $1,800/£800 - £1,110/AU$1,300 - AU$2,000). The Android-based Galaxy NX thus far has been Samsung's most expensive model, but its big draw -- cell-based connectivity -- never really materialized in a practical way.

Samsung NX1: A 4K Video Chomping, 28-Megapixel Camera In a Compact Body
The new NX1 is the first Samsung interchangeable-lens camera that's truly compelling enough to consider alongside the competition. Its billboard feature: 4K video in a tiny package. But more than just trotting out of a glitzy, buzzy feature, the NX1 is loaded with advanced tech, including an industry-leading image sensor.

Sony RX100 III review: a fantastic point-and-shoot, but it'll cost you
There are good cameras that look cute, take passable pictures and don't cost an arm and a leg. And then there are incredible cameras that can really do it all, but come along with comparatively astronomical price tags. The Sony RX100 is the latter -- the original model, which cost $650 and first appeared in 2012, was already wildly popular with camera enthusiasts, and 2014's version cashes in on two additional years of R&D.

The $800 Panasonic LX100, with a large sensor and 4K video, promises to be a great enthusiast compact
Now this is the enthusiast compact that LX-series fans have been waiting for. The Lumix LX100 takes on Sony's formidable RX100 Mark III at the same $800 price, finally doing away with the tiny 1/1.7-inch sensor and replacing it with a long-expected Four Thirds version.

The $900 Panasonic Lumix GM5 remains still a small but pricey ILC, now with EVF
Panasonic's most compact interchangeable-lens camera line -- the pint-sized GM series -- gets a refresh with the new Lumix DMC-GM5, which replaces the GM1. In the US it will generally come only in the kit version with the small 12-32mm lens and runs a fairly expensive $900.

Up close and personal with Sony's awesome compact camera, the RX10
Sony's RX10 is a new kind of point-and-shoot camera. It has a big sensor and a fast lens with huge zoom, and it's able to take pictures in almost any situation. But it's made to be easy to learn and understand, so that all you have to do is pick it up, turn it on, and start taking pictures.
