What is a displayport coupler used for?
Just like HDMI, DisplayPort is a digital connection for sending audio and video between computers and other devices. It's typically used to link up to monitors or projectors, but unlike HDMI, most smart TVs don't use DisplayPort. That said, DisplayPort has its perks, like supporting high resolutions and refresh rates higher than HDMI's, but what if the cable is too short? The obvious answer is to get a new, longer cable, though if you have two shorter ones, you can also use a DisplayPort coupler as an easy fix.

Why USB-B never caught on like USB-A or USB-C
If you have wondered why USB-B never became as popular as the older USB-A or the modern USB-C, you are not alone, and the reasons for it are not as simple or straightforward. In fact, there are good odds you didn't even know USB-B existed before today. USB-B was never meant for everyday devices that an average person used. Instead, USB-B connectors were reserved for niche devices like printers, scanners, audio equipment, storage drives, and more. Let's not forget that USB-B connectors are bulkier than USB-A, which made them unfeasible for devices that prioritized form factor, like laptops and smartphones.

This free app will turn your mac into a USB-C Cable tester
The switch to USB-C wasn't easy, but we made it. After countless dongles and adapters, most people now own smartphones, laptops, and accessories that, hopefully, all support charging and data transfer through the USB-C standard. Yet, there's very little that's universal about the USB-C experience, and you'll know this if you've had to deal with more than a handful of cables that feature the same connector type but advertise grossly different capabilities.

Why USB-B never became as popular as USB-A or USB-C
If you're wondering how and why we jumped straight from USB-A to USB-C, well, we didn't — most people simply aren't familiar with the USB-B connector and the role it has played for decades. The history of USB may surprise you. Both Type-A and Type-B connectors were introduced at the same time in 1996, with the goal of replacing the mess that proprietary connectors and ports had created. USB-A is, of course, the more popular connector type that is still in widespread use today. It's mostly found on computers, older laptops and chargers. In other words, your host devices.

Corsair Power Bridge Melts, Damages GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition

During troubleshooting, the owner removed the graphics card and discovered that the Corsair GPU Power Bridge had suffered significant thermal damage. The user states that the top row of connector pins showed evidence of melting and that the heat generated by the adapter was sufficient to deform the plastic surrounding the graphics card's power connector. Review: MSI MPG Ai1600 TS PCIE5 PSU Review
MSI stepped into CES 2026 with a power supply launch that feels unusually relevant for the current state of enthusiast hardware. We obtained a review unit. The new MPG Ai TS PCIE5 series, headlined by the MPG Ai1300TS PCIE5 and MPG Ai1600TS PCIE5 (which we test), is not just another wattage bump or efficiency refresh. Instead, MSI is trying to tackle one of the most uncomfortable realities of the modern flagship GPU era: power delivery has become a genuine point of concern, and the 12V-2x6 connector standard, while now widely adopted, still carries baggage. That is the backdrop against which these new units arrive, and it is also why this announcement was more interesting than the typical PSU reveal. At first glance, the formula looks familiar enough.

Last year, we learned that PCI-SIG plans to implement a 256.0 GT/s raw bit rate and 1 TB/s of bidirectional bandwidth in the x16 lane configuration. We had assumed that the protocol would continue using the familiar connector technology seen in previous PCIe updates.

How Long Can An HDMI Cable Be Before You Start Losing Quality?
Whether you're setting up a gaming console or installing a home theater system, choosing the right HDMI cable is an important part of the process. But if you do, try to keep the cable around 25 feet for less. Beyond that, the signal can start to fail, and you could get screen flickering, a total loss of picture, or some of the other symptoms that would typically accompany a dying HDMI cable that needs to be replaced.

MSI MPG Ai TS PCIE5 PSUs Introduce Active Real-Time Protection
MSI has revealed early details of its upcoming MPG Ai TS PCIE5 power supply series, which is scheduled to launch at CES 2026. The lineup includes two high-capacity models, the MPG Ai1300TS PCIE5 and the MPG Ai1600TS PCIE5, aimed at enthusiast and workstation-class systems with extreme power demands. The key innovation in the new series is what MSI calls active real-time protection technology. Unlike conventional PSU protection systems that rely on static thresholds, this solution is designed to monitor power delivery continuously and react dynamically to potential issues.

ASRock PSU Thermal Protection Prevents RTX 5090 Connector Meltdown at 1350 W OC
A user-reported incident highlights both the risks of extreme GPU overclocking and the growing importance of power supply safety features. According to a post on the Overclock.net forums, an overclocked GeForce RTX 5090 narrowly avoided catastrophic connector failure thanks to a thermal protection mechanism built into an ASRock power supply. The system in question used an MSI Ventus RTX 5090 configured to draw up to 1350 W, far exceeding the GPU's official 575 W power rating. While short power excursions beyond TDP are common during boost scenarios, sustained loads at this level place heavy stress on power connectors and cables.

Why Almost Every One Of Your Devices Uses USB-C Ports These Days
USB 1.0 ports were once the most advanced means of connectivity for electronic devices. But USB-1.0 has evolved to USB-C, and USB-C has taken the lead for nearly every device you can imagine. The reason for that has to do with a variety of factors, beginning with versatility. USB-C ports can charge devices, transfer data, and handle both audio and video. Plus, USB-C delivers both high-speed power and data at the same time.

Scythe Launches Kotetsu Mark 4 Entry-Level CPU Cooler
Scythe Japan has launched the Kotetsu Mark 4 (model SCKTT-4000), its latest budget air cooler designed as a follow-up to the popular Kotetsu Mark 3. The new model keeps the familiar single-tower layout with four 6 mm nickel-plated heatpipes, now paired with the Wonder Tornado 120 mm PWM fan, a change from the KAZE FLEX II 120 PWM from Mark 3. The cooler measures 134 × 155 × 80 mm (vs 138 x 154 x 80 mm in Mark 3) with the fan attached and weighs 771 g. The 120 mm fan operates from 350 ±200 RPM up to 2000 RPM, pushing up to 60.29 CFM with noise levels rated between 3.0 and 28.88 dBA. Static pressure is listed at 0.05-2.45 mmH₂O, which should be enough for mainstream CPUs in compact or mid-tower builds. Another change is the restyled top cover adding a bit of attention to details.

However, none of today's graphics cards have high enough power spikes to justify the demanding ATX v3.x requirements for power excursions, as they are called; no one knows what future GPUs will bring.
