GALAX Downgrades Several Specifications on Its B650M V2
GALAX has revised its B650M Wi-Fi Black Warrior Plus motherboard, with the V2 version reducing several specifications from the original design. Power delivery changes from a 12+2+1-phase 60A DrMOS arrangement to 10+2+1 phases using the same quoted 60A component rating. Advertised memory-overclocking capability falls from DDR5-7600+ to DDR5-6400+. Actual attainable memory speed depends on the CPU, DIMMs and BIOS, but the reduced specification indicates less ambitious validation or board routing. Two 10Gbps USB connections have been removed. Wireless networking also changes from a Realtek RTL8852BE Wi-Fi 6 adapter using a 2×2 radio configuration to the 1×1 RTL8851BE.

ASUS TUF Gaming B850M WiFi Offers DDR5-7600 and Gen5 M.2 but a Gen4 GPU Slot
ASUS has introduced a more affordable TUF Gaming B850M WiFi motherboard for AMD's AM5 platform. The board uses an 8+2+1-phase power arrangement and receives CPU power through 8-pin plus 4-pin EPS connections. Memory overclocking is listed above DDR5-7600, subject to processor, DIMM and BIOS capability. Three M.2 positions are provided, one supporting PCIe 5.0 storage. The main graphics slot is limited to PCIe 4.0 rather than PCIe 5.0. That distinction is unlikely to affect most current graphics cards materially, but buyers expecting every B850 feature to operate at Gen5 should note it. ASUS also includes wireless networking and the physical protections normally associated with its TUF range.

What Fast Boot Does and How To Turn It On/Off in BIOS
Fast boot is a BIOS/UEFI setting that reduces your boot time by minimizing the system initialization process. Basically, it skips some low-priority initialization steps and hardware checks for the sake of speed. And no, it's not the same as fast startup, even though they sound similar. Fast startup is a Control Panel power setting that combines normal startup mode and wake-from-hibernation mode. It's completely different.

LG Display Reportedly Develops Lower-Cost Two-Stack Tandem WOLED Technology
LG Display has reportedly completed development of a two-stack Tandem WOLED structure designed to approach the image quality of its more complex three-stack panels. Adding emissive layers can improve OLED brightness, efficiency and usable lifespan, but it also increases deposition time, material consumption and manufacturing cost. Reducing the structure to two stacks could make Tandem WOLED more practical for cost-sensitive monitors and televisions. The reported panel uses a new blue-emitting material and replaces a yellow-green emitting layer with separate red and green components. The altered structure strengthens blue output and moves the native white point toward approximately 6,700K. Testing reportedly produced performance comparable with three-stack panels at 6,500K and 10,000K color-temperature settings.

MSI MAG B850 Gaming Plus MAX WIFI (AMD motherboard) review
There's a certain kind of motherboard that quietly makes the most sense for the largest number of AM5 builds: not the halo product stacked with every controller under the sun, and not the barebones value board that forces compromises the moment you add a fast SSD, a hungry GPU, and a handful of USB devices. The MSI MAG B850 Gaming Plus MAX WiFi is squarely aimed at that middle ground—an ATX platform that's meant to be built, tweaked, upgraded, and lived with. And in 2026, "lived with" means it has to handle modern IO, next-gen storage, high-power Ryzen SKUs, and the reality that most people will swap GPUs and NVMe drives more often than they swap motherboards. The "MAG" badge tells you MSI is targeting mainstream enthusiasts: stable power delivery, sensible connectivity, and a feature set that supports the core of a gaming PC without inflating the price into flagship territory. The "MAX" part matters too, because it's not just marketing garnish. This refresh leans into practical improvements that actually show up during ownership—bigger firmware capacity, chunkier heatsinking where it counts, and a more builder-friendly layout that acknowledges the modern PC is assembled and serviced more like a modular system than a one-and-done build.

MSI Z890 GAMING PLUS WiFi6E Motherboard Review
The evaluation today shifts to the Intel side of things for the MSI Z890 GAMING PLUS WiFi6E. This board is part of the entry-level gaming motherboard selections from MSI. In the order of things, the GAMING boards are just below the MSI Arsenal Gaming (MAG) selections. On the AMD side, MSI has just recently placed the GAMING PLUS tier into the MAG section, apparently not yet for the Intel side. GAMING PLUS boards tend to be budget-minded in design and connectivity options, but present a very stable and reliable platform. This tier is lacking fancy RGBs and has fewer of the DIY connectors of the higher-tier options. The MSI Z890 GAMING PLUS WiFi6E is offered on the MSI-US store for $199 and carries a three-year warranty.

Motherboard Sales fall 44% as Memory Prices Disrupt PC Upgrades
The ongoing rise in memory and graphics card prices is now having a measurable effect on the DIY PC market. According to newly published figures from China, motherboard sales dropped by 44% in April 2026 compared to the same month last year. On a month-to-month basis, sales also declined by 9% compared to March, highlighting continued weakness in consumer demand. The slowdown reflects broader pressure across the PC hardware industry. DRAM prices, SSD costs, and graphics card pricing have all increased significantly over the past year. Much of the pressure is linked to the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure, which continues to consume manufacturing capacity for DRAM, NAND, and advanced memory products used in accelerators and high-performance GPUs.

MSI MPG X870E CARBON MAX WIFI review
MSI's MPG X870E CARBON has been one of those "do everything" AM5 motherboards: high-end chipset, a connectivity-rich rear I/O, and enough storage and expansion to build anything from a tidy gaming tower to a workstation that lives on fast NVMe. With the MPG X870E CARBON MAX WIFI, MSI is not reinventing that formula. This is a MAX refresh in the most literal sense—same platform identity, same CARBON design language, and the same general layout philosophy—augmented with some upgrades that are easy to summarize, but surprisingly relevant if you keep boards for multiple CPU generations or you like to tune beyond the usual one-click presets.

Intel Prepares Dual-Lever 2L-ILM CPU Mount for Nova Lake S Platform
Intel is reportedly working on a revised CPU retention mechanism for its upcoming Core Ultra 400S "Nova Lake S" desktop platform, introducing what is referred to as the 2L-ILM. Designed for the new FCLGA1954 socket and expected to appear on select 900 series motherboards, this updated independent loading mechanism adopts a dual-lever structure aimed at improving mounting pressure distribution across the processor. The development follows long-standing concerns surrounding Intel's traditional ILM designs. Intel's Pure P-core "Bartlett Lake" Made to Run on Regular Z790 Motherboard via BIOS Mod
Intel Core 200 "Bartlett Lake" is probably the most interesting processor gamers can't buy—built on the Intel 7 node and designed for Socket LGA1700, "Bartlett Lake" is a non-Hybrid, pure P-core chip, a monolithic silicon, with 12 "Raptor Cove" P-cores, and no E-core clusters. The processor, which features a 12 performance-core configuration without efficiency cores, is designed primarily for embedded and edge computing scenarios. While it uses the same LGA1700 socket as mainstream desktop CPUs, Intel does not validate it for use on 600- and 700-series consumer chipsets, largely due to missing firmware support. In this case, the user bypassed those limitations by modifying the motherboard BIOS and injecting the required CPU microcode.

Colorful Details Its First BTF 3.0 Rear-Connector Z890 Motherboard
Colorful has disclosed more technical details for the iGame Z890M ULTRA-Z V20, the company's first motherboard based on its BTF 3.0 rear-connector layout. While the naming suggests a Micro-ATX design, the board does not follow the standard format exactly. It measures 250 x 244 mm, which makes it 6 mm longer than a conventional Micro-ATX motherboard. That increase in PCB length is used to create more room for the rear-mounted connector arrangement, including a 50-pin direct-plug power connector that helps move cables out of the main chamber of the chassis. The hidden-cable motherboard concept has become a growing niche in the DIY market, especially among users building showcase systems with glass side panels and white-themed parts.
