Adding emissive layers can improve OLED brightness, efficiency and usable lifespan, but it also increases deposition time, material consumption and manufacturing cost. Reducing the structure to two stacks could make Tandem WOLED more practical for cost-sensitive monitors and televisions. The reported panel uses a new blue-emitting material and replaces a yellow-green emitting layer with separate red and green components. The altered structure strengthens blue output and moves the native white point toward approximately 6,700K. Testing reportedly produced performance comparable with three-stack panels at 6,500K and 10,000K color-temperature settings.
