Noctua and Prusa Research Partner to Release 3-D Printing Filament in Iconic Beige and Brown Colors
There's no denying the loyal customer base Noctua has gained over the years, and now they can print custom parts in the iconic colors to match components in their builds. Noctua has partnered with the equally well-established 3D Printer manufacturer, Prusa Research, to offer PETG filament in either beige or brown. Now, while we do not normally cover 3D printing stories, this one is a bit unique in that it means folks who are aiming to design a build using Noctua's colors have more options to do so. From replacing shrouds on GPUs, coolers, possibly PSUs, and some chassis parts, there are many possibilities and some component manufacturers even offer print files and others can sometimes be obtained from within the 3D printing community.

This Printer Type Costs $8 Or Less A Year To Refill - But There's A Catch
Inkjet cartridge printers have been called a scam, a cartel, and many other hyperbolic and incorrect statements. This burning hatred is, in part, based on how some brands keep finding new, unsavory ways to monetize their products, like HP and its controversial subscription printer. Negative sentiment has been brewing for a while, however, stirred by overpriced proprietary ink cartridge systems that never seem to last as long as they're supposed to. If you, too, long to be free of the "inkjet racket," you'll be happy to know that plenty of printing systems do not use ink cartridges at all, even if they come with downsides of their own.

Beyond these tried-and-true materials, there's another, more eco-friendly solution that has steadily gained traction among homeowners. Recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) driveways use old, crushed-up asphalt mixed with filler materials to create an effective asphalt alternative that appears fairly similar to any other driveway.

5 Cool Things You Can 3D Print That Solve Common Household Annoyances
3D printing technology is a total game-changer. What was a very niche and experimental thing to do a few years ago has now become a full-blown hobby for many people around the globe. You don't need to print huge items like walls or an entire house to realize the potential of 3D printing. You can solve various nagging household problems with a simple, downloadable file and a few cents' worth of plastic. If you're still thinking about how a 3D printer works, it basically melts plastic filament layer by layer to build solid objects from a digital model.

3D Printed Modular RC Chassis Project Features GPM Differentials for Reliability
Turning a series of setbacks into a functional, print-ready RC chassis is no small feat, but curv lab's latest project demonstrates how persistence and thoughtful design can overcome even the most frustrating challenges. Over six months, the team tackled issues like drivetrain failures and weak suspension components, ultimately creating a modular chassis that balances durability, performance and repairability. One standout feature is the use of longitudinal 3D printing techniques for drive shafts, which significantly improved their strength under torsional stress.

AI and 3D printing help researchers create heat‑ and pressure‑resistant materials for aerospace and defense applications
An alloy is a material made by combining two or more metallic elements to achieve properties no single metal can offer on its own—greater strength, for example, or better resistance to corrosion. Refractory alloys are based on elements such as tungsten, niobium and molybdenum, which have some of the highest melting points of any metals.

Breakthrough Holographic 3D Printing Tech Creates Objects In Half A Second
If you thought your Bambu X1 Carbon was fast, a new 3D printing technique that can fabricate complex millimeter-scale objects in just 0.6 seconds may bring some buyer's remorse. To achieve such performance, the tech uses holographic light fields to solidify resin all at once, obviously taking away the wait needed for layer-by-layer process of traditional machines. If eventually massed produced, this technology could transform production of everything from smartphone parts to medical implants.

The War On 3D Printing: US Limits on Sharing 3D Printing Files
Efforts to regulate 3D printing are intensifying, particularly around its use in manufacturing firearm components. As outlined by Loyal Moses below, state-level legislation and pressure on hosting platforms are reshaping the landscape of personal manufacturing. For example, Washington's HB2320 proposes criminalizing the possession of digital design files for firearm parts, placing the burden of proof on individuals to demonstrate lawful intent. These measures highlight a growing tension between public safety concerns and the preservation of creative freedoms within the maker community.

Ultrafast 3D printing method creates complex objects in under a second
High-speed 3D printing has just gotten a lot faster. Researchers from Tsinghua University in China have developed a new high-speed printing technology capable of creating complex millimeter-scale objects in just 0.6 seconds. Traditional 3D printing is often slow because it builds objects one thin layer at a time. While a newer method called volumetric printing, which uses light to shape an object, has become progressively faster in recent years, it has hit a major speed bump.

Toward regenerative bioprinting: Magnetic mixer enables scalable manufacturing of 3D-printed tissues
3D bioprinting, in which living tissues are printed with cells mixed into soft hydrogels, or "bio-inks," is widely used in the field of bioengineering for modeling or replacing the tissues in our bodies. The print quality and reproducibility of tissues, however, can face challenges. One of the most significant challenges is created simply by gravity—cells naturally sink to the bottom of the bioink-extruding printer syringe because the cells are heavier than the hydrogel around them.

A new study highlights a semi-transparent, color-tunable solar cell designed to work in places traditional panels can't, like windows and flexible surfaces. Using a 3D-printed pillar structure, the researchers can fine-tune how much light passes through and what color the cell appears, without changing the solar material itself. The result is a system that balances strong energy output with durability, while giving designers far more control over how the technology looks and functions.

How 3D printing creates stronger vehicle parts by solving aluminum's high-temperature weakness
Aluminum is prized for being lightweight and strong, but at high temperatures it loses strength. This has limited its use in engines, turbines, and other applications where parts must stay strong under high temperature conditions. Researchers at Nagoya University have developed a method that uses metal 3D printing to create a new aluminum alloy series optimized for high strength and heat resistance. All new alloys use low-cost, abundant elements, and are recycling-friendly, with one variant staying both strong and flexible at 300° C.
